Avalon (/ˈævəˌlɒn/; Latin: Insula Avallonis, Welsh: Ynys Afallon, Ynys Afallach; literally meaning "the isle of fruit [or apple] trees"), sometimes written Avallon or Avilion, is a legendary island featured in the Arthurian legend.
But there are many other towns in England where it is said that the mythical Avalon existed: Burgh-by-Sands — close to Hadrian's Wall – and Castlesteads, both in the English county of Cumbria, are two examples. Some say that it was located in northwestern France, on an island called Ile Aval.Feb 25, 2016
